One fee, shown plainly
A flat 1% platform fee on completed marketplace sales. Everything else is a real, separate cost — we never blend processing or tax into the 1%.
The whole model in one line
1% platform fee (item subtotal, completed sales) + pass-through payment processing + shipping + tax + any optional boosts you choose — each itemized so you always know your real net before you list.
What the 1% is — and isn't
- It's 1% of the item subtotal on a completed sale — not the buyer's total.
- It does not include payment processing (~2.9% + $0.30, shown as its own line).
- Shipping is pass-through and never marked up in our math.
- Taxes are calculated and remitted separately — they're never your income or our fee.
- Boosts/promotions are optional and always itemized separately.
Why this is different
Most marketplaces quote a single blended rate that hides processing, or add buyer-side junk fees that quietly raise your price and hurt conversion. Gideon makes money from subscriptions and optional tools — not from a bigger cut of your sale or hidden buyer fees. The 1% stays constant across every seller plan.
Lead-only categories
Vehicles and real estate are inquiry-only, and services are quote-only, in the MVP — there's no on-platform checkout and therefore no completed-sale platform fee.
